Centers!

Here are a few of the centers the children worked in this past week:

Here are some of the kids sponge painting different phases of the moon. They made representations of crescent, half, gibbous, and full moons. We than constructed them according to the phases the moon goes through each month.
We also watched the first moon landing from 1969 and heard the famous words: "That's one small step for man....one giant leap for mankind..."!

Here is Annabella working on her spelling skills  with some letter puzzles. At this station the kids need to first match up the letters and pictures to spell words. They than write the words in their journals. Soon they will use these words to work on creative writing.
This is one of our newest centers. We call it "The Coin Sort." To be able to add money children first need to identify the differences between the coins and match these coins with their money unit. This center calls for the kids to take a cup of coins and sort them into the right section. It will progressively get harder!
We always like to include a center that uses kinesthetic skills in addition to creativity and working together. These past weeks have been devoted to space travel and the Solar System. The children put together Solar System puzzles, created rocket ship launches, and worked on the Solar System leap pad.
